The iconicZip Backpack returns in new form this year: a gorgeous black leather, supplied by Hermann Oak Tannery in St. Louis, Missouri. With the smooth pebbled grain and supple texture, combined with it's excellent durability, this classic backpack sits in a whole new light...

INTRODUCING OUR APRONS

Where do your passions lie: the kitchen, the studio, the bakery? Wherever your labor of love takes you, we’ve got you covered in an apron made to look good getting used. We invited our friends Stuart Brioza of State Bird Provisions and The Progress and Jeremy Tooker of Four Barrel and the Mill to take our new aprons out for a spin, with photography by our favorite photographer, Daniel Dent.

This Boat Tote maintains the resilient and sensible design that you fell in love with, now in new colors to freshen your closet.

Who makes what you wear? As brands embrace a socially conscious identity, it’s hard to discern how transparent their sourcing production processes are. Unfortunately, what’s actually happening behind the scenes can seem mysterious, even misleading. If this is the case, how would you confidently know that your purchase is an authentic product of socially conscious practices? What questions about the materials and production are left unanswered?

Fresh out of our San Francisco studio, we sent our briefcases out to New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, and to our neighbors in the Bay to discover how their passions and our organizationally conscious bag join in effortless synergy. They take us to a moment in their professional lives and tell their unique story of a growing attachment to this newfound work essential.

We proudly introduce Zip Briefcase: designed to work hard for the hard worker. This is an exciting addition to our line that truly embodies our signature style–  unmistakably conscious of the power of simplicity and utility, this new briefcase is all you’d ever want in a field bag, no matter your field.

We spent an afternoon in Los Angeles with Katie Newburn and Rod Hunt, welcoming the Small Zip Backpack into our family. The Small Zip Backpack features everything you love about our original Zip Backpack, yet it is downsized to fit your minimal needs.

We asked our friend and talented photographer, Daniel Dent, to photograph our new zip utility tote, and he brought creative duo Domingo and Kali Robledo in to model our newest bag.  We spoke with Domingo and Kali after the shoot about their lives as creatives in San Francisco.

Say hello to the highly requested Zip Utility Tote— the new staple you’ll want to take everywhere. With six exterior pockets— four of which are gusseted and expand when needed— and an interior laptop sleeve, you’ll boast organization at work, school, and beyond.  Regardless of where your days take you, the Zip Utility Tote will enduringly suit your professional and adventurous needs.

The Leather Boat Tote is a piece that speaks refinement. To showcase its classic style, we asked the talented L.A. food photographer Katie Newburn to model it for us. Katie is a brilliant photographer and a total joy to be around.

Introducing the Boat Tote in Leather. This elegant bag comes in two colors, black and brown. The perfect bag to carry with you all day, or to fill with your essentials for an overnight excursion. Simple and classic, this is one piece you won't want to leave home without.

Introducing: the Joshu+Vela Mission Tradeshop. For those outside of the San Francisco Bay Area, talented local photographer Mariko Reed has documented our new space in a series of beautiful photos. The Tradeshop includes room for both a full factory suited to our unique type of short-run production and ample showroom to showcase our entire lineup of bags and other goods. Highlights include airy 16-foot windows, restored Doug fir floors from 1910, custom Heath ceramic tiling in the entryway and dedicated leather and sewing bays in the factory.

We're located at 3042 16th Street between Mission and Valencia Streets. Come say hi!
